Holiday Takedown Tips

Top Tips

Allison’s TidBit Tuesday is all about Holiday Takedown Tips! The Holidays are almost over, here are a few quick tips to pack up the season

I absolutely love the holiday season, the smell of fresh pine, decorating the tree with my family, listening to Christmas music while cooking and indulging in a little extra wine…

Although this holiday was a little different this year, the dread of packing up the Christmas decor and saying goodbye to the holidays is still there.

Here are a few of my tips to pack up the holiday season fast and efficiently:

#1 Save Your Wrapping Paper Tubes

Keep lights, ribbons and any string tree decor from tangling by wrapping them around used wrapping paper tubes. Tuck the plugs into the ends of the tube.

#2 Rubber Tote Bins & Repurposed Wrapping Paper

I always pack away my tree decorations neatly in a rubber tote bin to help keep the decor more organized for the following year. For all my breakable items (yes I use glass bulbs‍♀️) I wrap them safely in repurposed wrapping paper

#3 Use a Tarp for Fresh Trees

Before taking the tree down (for all those who have fresh trees) I lay a tarp down in front of my tree. Then take the tree down, lay it on the tarp, the wrap it up. This reduces the tree needles significantly in the home!

#4 Discard & Donate

If you or your kids got new gifts for the kitchen, toy room or anywhere in your home, take this time while putting it all away to discard or create a donate box of any doubles or anything that won’t be needed or used anymore.

Local Places You Can Donate To:

Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis

Guelph Goodwill Community Store and Donation Centre

The Salvation Army Thrift Store

Mission Thrift Store
