Spring Cleaning 2025
Hey homeowners!
Spring is officially here — the birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, and if you’re like most of us, you’ve got that itch to refresh your space. As a real estate agent, I can tell you: a clean, organized home doesn’t just feel better — it can actually increase your home’s value and appeal, especially if you’re thinking of selling in the near future.
Here are my top spring cleaning tips to get your home sparkling from the inside out:

1. Start with a Plan
Before you grab the mop and gloves, take a walk through your home with a notebook. Jot down areas that need attention — from dusty ceiling fans to cluttered closets. Breaking your cleaning into rooms or zones makes it more manageable and less overwhelming.
2. Declutter First
Cleaning around clutter is like trying to mop with muddy shoes. Clear out what you don’t use or need.
Ask yourself: “Have I used this in the last year?” If not, consider donating, selling, or tossing it. Less clutter = more space, and buyers love that open, airy feel.
3. Go Deep — Especially in the Kitchen and Bathrooms
These rooms make or break buyer impressions. Scrub grout, descale faucets, clean out the fridge, and wipe down all cabinets inside and out.
Bonus tip: A mixture of vinegar and baking soda works wonders for drains and funky smells!
4. Refresh Walls and Baseboards
Dust and grime can quietly build up on walls and baseboards. A quick wipe-down (or even a fresh coat of paint in high-traffic areas) can make a room feel brand new.
5. Don’t Forget the Windows
Let that gorgeous spring sunlight pour in! Clean windows inside and out, dust blinds, and launder or vacuum curtains. Bright natural light makes every room feel more inviting — and bigger, too.
6. Tidy Up the Yard
Curb appeal starts at the curb — literally. Rake up any leftover leaves, plant a few flowers, trim hedges, and give your front door some love. Even just a new welcome mat and a potted plant can do wonders.
7. Check Safety Items
Not glamorous, but important: replace air filters, test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and inspect fire extinguishers. It’s a small step that can make a big difference in buyer peace of mind.
8. Create a “Staged” Look
Even if you're not selling yet, a little staging goes a long way. Arrange furniture for flow, minimize knick-knacks, and add fresh touches like flowers or light-colored throw pillows to brighten up each room.
Bonus: Turn It Into a Family Event
Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a chore! Put on a fun playlist, assign tasks, and celebrate when it's done (pizza night, anyone?). It’s a great way to reset your home and mindset for the warmer months.
